Tator Tot Casserole

1 Lbs. Hamburger (Sometimes I use ground Turkey)
1/2 Cup Chopped onion
1 Can Cream of Chicken soup
1/3 Cup Milk
1 1/2 Cup Grated Cheese (I use Cheddar)
2 1/2 Tbs. Chopped Garlic
1 Cup French fried onions (I used the Cheddar)

Salt & Pepper to taste

Place the tater tots in a single layer on the bottom of a 13x9 pan, bake at 400 for 25 min. Fry the hamburger, onion & garlic until the meat is fully cooked then season to taste and drain the fat. Place hamburger mix over the top of the tater tots. In a small bowl mix the soup and milk then pour over the meat layer. Cover with foil and bake at 400 for 30 min. Uncover and top with the grated cheese then back for another 5 min to melt the cheese. Before serving sprinkle to the top with the French fried onions.

That looks really good. The way I make it, the tator tots go on top to get all crispy and I also use cream of chicken and cream of mushroom.

Mmmmmm I want some right now!! lol

MaryBeth, I made this for my family last night. The only thing I did differently was add a little crumbled up bacon (because it needed to be used!) My family raved!!

I looked at lots of recipes for Tater Tots casserole. Yours was the only one I found that put the tots on the bottom and cooked them first. I think that was a great addition...they had that crunchy outside.

Yum!
